Support your local credit unions, not rich banks

I had TD acct since childhood, then Canada Permanent Trust opened near me in the 70s. I liked their interest & GIC rates. Fast tract to TD buying them out decades ago so I rode along until turning 65yrs. TD suddenly decided to tack service charges on my acct. I argued that was unacceptable for a senior who'd been w TD basically since childhood. They didn't care so I moved to BMO where I've had credit card since mid-80s. No banking service charges for Srs. although Mastercard is no longer controlled by the bank?? Used to have a day of grace on payments but that changed with the switch, which I still don't understand

There seems to be a pattern emerging here? Sell in dollars, or er, bite the dust!

All they care about is profit so make them pay. We the people have "power of the purse." Let's make it cost them dearly for courting favor and doing business with felon 47.

I moved my assets out of TD bank and into a credit union a decade ago when TD was found to be directly taking big deposits from drug cartels. There was no argument, they knew exactly who they were dealing with.

I’m very happy with my Vancity Credit Union.

So should our Prime Minister choose to slap down these banks, to what end?

Fines that can be applied to customer fraud protection.

when I was a young man trying to establish credit Scotia Bank refused to give me a small loan even with a co-signer and despite the fact that I’d banked with them my whole life. They are the OG MAGA. No loyalty and don’t care about the people. Do what I did 30 years ago. Close all your accounts and go to a Woke bank.who will treat you like a person not an asset.

Damn, this is my bank. I'm sure all the big ones are supporting evil in some way. Maybe time to look at a credit union.

Im wondering what the stance of the CIBC is with all this? Should I be dealing with them or are they a better bank than the credit unions and TD?

Switch everything you've got to a credit union. All banks are trumpers.

I left Scotia bank a long time ago because of their planet destructive investments. If I hadn't done it then, I'd certainly be doing it now. It cost me in benefits as a senior, but I joined a credit union. I'd encouraged everyone to check out their banks' policies on the environment, sustainability and politics.
