Better yet -- sell them to ICE but install software that can only be updated by the Canadian manufacturer (kinda like the F-35s that Canada has bought from the US).
As a US citizen, I am grateful you are calling out the dangers for BOTH Canadian and US people. Those vehicles being used against US people may eventually be used against all of Canada. We must defeat trump and his entire family AND administration.
I wanted to believe that Canada lived up to its ideals, but the truth on the ground in other countries where Canadian companies operate, is good old fashioned exploitation. And, indeed, why should we expect any different when we see what happens here in Canada, particularly with First Nations. So, the complicity is Gaza is familiar territory, sadly, and the innocent Canadian mask is off.

This last report is very recent and quite damning.
2)Export of weapons and components to Israel during it's ethnic cleansing of Gaza and West Bank: The response of the Canadian government to allegations that Canadians weapons and components are going to Gaza (https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/leblanc-canada-us-israel-9.7103075; https://www.readthemaple.com/canada-authorized-37-2-million-in-new-military-exports-to-israel/) are always carefully worded. They never say "Canadian weapons are not going to Israel" they just say they have not issued new export licenses. This does not stop the flow of weapons from Canada to Israel as licenses can be extended and can last 5 years. The government suspended 34 licenses in 2024, but left over 100 export licenses in force, and issued 2 new licenses for export of military equipment to Israel in 2025.
America is not converting to fascism across the board. Instead, there are leaders at the top pushing the agenda. They sell it as a way to improve the country, but the actual benefits are kept for a narrow group. It requires self-sacrifice and total obedience to the cause, but it doesn't serve everyone the same way. Success depends on your social standing. However, even if you are loyal, it will not be enough if you don't follow the state's story exactly.
Before I add my comment, I want to state for the record that I agree that we shouldn't be selling any military equipment to ICE, and that the Canadian Government should do everything it can to discourage/prevent the practice.
But unfortunately, there's a "real world" aspect that needs addressing: This is a business. To remain in business, it has to sell its product to SOMEBODY. So, considering that Canada desperately needs to build up CAF (not just the large capital items and northern elements - but frankly EVERYTHING), where are we at tendering similar contracts? And especially if we arrange multi-year purchasing, can there be a contractual clause that prohibits them selling to ICE?
And, does Europe need armoured vehicles under their SAFE program, could they be purchasing them from Canadian manufacturers?
Last Canadian contract that I heard that went to this company was us buying some of their vehicles to be given to Ukraine (about two years ago, or so).
So this is a broader conversation about our defence industries -- if you want viable Canadian suppliers (there's another Canadian company who is making battery-powered harbour guardboats for the US Navy. Not quite the same outcome, strictly speaking), then you also have to figure out a stable/predictable customer chain -- well, if you don't want them selling to just anybody.
If you don't do this, then they are out of business or selling to whatever "undesireable" that's out there. And if they are out of business, then we don't have the expertise any longer.
WTF!!!!!!! You KNOW these armored trucks will be used against American citizens! ICE is an illegal paramilitary group abusing and killing American citizens in the streets of Minnesota and elsewhere. Selling these armored vehicles to ICE will put blood on your hands!
The sale MUST BE STOPPED!!
Canada MUST remain in solidarity with real Americans who are fighting everyday to get their country back. It is Trump you must fight against - not HELP him!!
Keep up the good work and I sent a note to PM under emergency preparedness asking for a “war cabinet” ; promoting cooperation amongst the premiers and opposition instead of infighting and self centered actions . Let’s get real here and support our nation
The defense firm is Canadian but the vehicles that are in question were built in Michigan and fall under Buy American rules. You and McPherson should know this and it should have been mentioned.
I trust PM Carney to take the right and humane approach.
“There has never been a clearer line between good and evil than the Canada/US border now represents. He rages against us the most because of what we represent. We are close enough for him to smell our contempt for what he stands for. Our multicultural democracy and rule of law is a direct threat to his agenda of authoritarian rule and white supremacy”
I am certainly opposed to the sale of armoured vehicles to the USA. Or anyone else for that matter. Weapons of war should not have any part in Canadian exports.
I'm conflicted on this one. Canadian jobs vs. ICE. The PM cancels on the premise that ICE is going to use them on civilians, The pentagon switches payment from ICE to the Defence(war) dept. and the sale goes through anyway. Defence then gifts them to ICE, which is where they got alot of equipment in the 1st place. Point is, if they really want them, they are going to get them.
I, too, am conflicted. Also I feel that Charlie and McPherson have tried to use misinformation and that troubles me more. I don’t want to see anything from Canada being exported to magat land that contributes to their evil agenda. I have read that these armoured vehicles are built in Michigan by the Canadian company, Roshel. Why was this fact not disclosed in your interview? They don’t need export permits. It probably needs different maneuvering.
If I am wrong I apologize for accusing you of deliberately not mentioning this and I look forward to hearing of another solution.

The thing I want to know is, who approved this export permits in the first place, and what on earth was their reasoning?

this American says Thank you Charlie, for taking the moral high road...
I thought it was a Private Company and not Government?

🇺🇸RIP
Cancelling the export permits would be a fine “distraction” or discombobulation. And a moral stand we could take.
Should we also cease exports of military hardware to Israel?
As usual, there is a lot to consider.
Awesome
Thanks Charlie

But not by propping up evil entities like Ice

It still is good to draw attention to this !
