Canada Must Stop the Sale of Armoured Vehicles to ICE
Canada has a legal obligation, under both domestic and international law, to block the sale of armoured vehicles to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The mechanism is straightforward: cancel the export permits.
Under Canadian law, it is illegal to export military parts and weapons if it is known that they will be used against civilians. ICE is a paramilitary organization that is completely focused on targeting unarmed civilians. The sale of armoured vehicles from Rochel would dramatically transform their war on civilians.
The Prime Minister of Canada has both the authority and the responsibility to act.
NDP Member of Parliament Heather McPherson has been pushing the Prime Minister to cancel these permits citing Canada’s legal responsibilities and international obligations. She is one of the few people in Parliament with extensive experience in sanctions policy and international law.
I recently sat down with Heather McPherson to discuss why these exports violate Canadian law and what immediate steps the federal government can take.
Canadian policy decisions have real consequences beyond our borders.
I am asking Canadians to stand in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis and other American cities who are facing aggressive militarized enforcement and to call on the Prime Minister to cancel the export permits.

Thank you Charlie for mentioning and talking about this yesterday. We must sign a boycott and take action on this. Like hell will we have those very tanks used against us one day!
I’m glad you’re pushing this issue. Some of these vehicles are already in use on civilians in Minnesota. One was seen plowing a path through protesters after Alex Pretti’s execution.
I’ll happily write the PM.
Greenpeace Canada also has a petition https://act.greenpeace.ca/en-ca/no-more-armoured-vehicles-for-ice?_gl=1*197jr6y*_gcl_au*MjgzMzAyMjIuMTc3MDE2NjM0NQ.. bc
We need to start protesting at the plant too. I’m definitely willing to make the trip
