Hi Charlie- from the safe confines of Nanaimo , thanks for all you do. Maybe you’re aware of the recent release of a US govt publication or,edict even, entitled America 250-Civics Education Coalition: Know America/ Love America. It’s as indoctrinating as a you can get, with jingoistic nationalism baked in with the powers of ai slop (no more teachers)and dumbing down the masses as quickly as possible. Maybe you would do an expose podcast on this Orwellian/ Stalinesque blueprint. All over America, the clocks are striking 13.

We have so much erosion of our values happening right here in Canada by our Canadian government. I would be very interested in hearing your take, Charlie, on bill C9. This is what the Star has to say: www.thestar.com /opinion/star-columnists/restricting-free-speech-won-t-make-us-any-safer-but-bill-c-9-isnt-really/article_77c85378-984f-4a57-9e25-079cfc89c9a6.html

I wish we celebrated those individuals, companies, schools who have bucked the trend and stood up against the vagaries of the Trump administration

As Much

As we lament and grab our pearls over these individuals, companies and schools who promote and have fallen in line with these cruel, unfair, greedy and constitutionally suspect policies.

We would all be better off if the emphasis on bravery were properly focused

I have been boycotting US companies large and small, as much as humanly possible without retreating to a hermit-like existence in a cabin (camp) in the woods. The exception that I make is Costco. They have steadfastly refused to abandon DEI, and they pay and treat their employees well. Of course I only buy Canadian products there, but there are plenty of those.

I had a life changing moment a few years back that changed my less than wonderful perception of myself. It turned me from a non reader who was exceptionally ignorant about too much to someone who can't stop reading. Since then, I can't read enough. Most of my library is non fiction and political. I'm very careful about the sources I choose because quite frankly I don't want to be like the MAGA's south of the border. I am currently adding to my library books that Charlie has written and books he recommends. I read Charlie whenever he posts and watch his channel as well. One can only get smarter by reading the real stuff. Sometimes the writings from another person are hard reads, but truth can be hard. Try being the writer making the hard truth be known.

If you are coming to Ottawa, please remind us all when that is. Thanks!

For anyone who wants a copy of Trump's (very offensive) 2025 National Security Strategy (NSS), it's easy to find. I searched by name and downloaded a copy.

That NSS is DRAFT policy as far as I can see. Not law. Not approved guidance yet for the US government and military. It must go to the US Congress next. Various high-level Congressional Committees will (I hope) review and question it. It would be weird if no one put forward proposals to revise it. I'm hoping the American public can make revisions happen.

See the law on the NSS. https://www.cornell.edu/uscode/50/3043a See also the Notes.

They are written in fairly normal English.

SUGGESTION

America's democracy is not dead yet. A concerned American who wants to oppose the ?!traitorous?! trump NSS could write their Congressional reps (any party):

** I utterly oppose the adoption of Russia's priorities, outlook and talking points in this NSS. They must be eliminated and replaced with different language in keeping with the US' post WWII history and alliances.

** I strenuously oppose this vision of the USA's place in the world.

** This NSS must be rolled back. Replace it by a lightly revised version of, e.g., Biden's last NSS.

Cheers

It's basically just Belgium, isn't it? Because they're the ones holding the "bag", so to speak, and are nervous about retaliation from Putin.

I scrolled through the articles on your MeidasTouch website and saw that most of them are about Trump. I would like to see more about Carney and what is happening here in Canada. I generally like your take on the situation and would like to hear more about your take about what is going on here. Such as that we are still sending arms to Israel. Such as we are sending vehicles to the US for their ICE manouveurs. This story from Nora Loreto is about those machines that Roshel is selling to ICE https://noraloreto.substack.com/p/canadian-built-machines-of-war

Hi Charlie, I am fairly new as a follower, but you are one of my favourite voices for Canadian political commentary. And I just listened to MeidasTouch touch for the first time. I gained insights into Alberta and feel hopeful that the people of that province will change the government and get rid of Danielle Smith. However, I disagree with you about PM Carney, making mistakes, not being smart but only begging. Although the agreement with Alberta was so disappointing, against so many environmental priorities, I am wondering if Mr Carney expected the response. He may be smart enough to play a very dangerous game that might turn out as most of us hope, no pipeline, Alberta no longer MAGA, Daniele Smith no longer premier. That is how it seems to be going. However, Steven Guilbeault and Elizabeth May don't seem to see it that way. What do you think?

Helen. I strongly share the same perspective, and have also thought PM Carney was expecting the response. Something had to give with Smith and I believe this was one of his well known chess maneuvers that he uses with difficult people like trump. If people could remember that he has been PM for 8 Months. And all he’s accomplished since. I hope he can make amends to the various FN groups, and others once things settle down a bit. Smith will never gain approval from FN, and the people of BC will never ever allow her entry into our beautiful province. I have commented on this on another of Charlie’s posts. I very much appreciate your comments. Have a good day.

I agree with your optimism Helen. We have to believe in something and someone. I believe that P.M. Carney will turn out to be Democracy’s guide in this insane period of history.

Thank you for keeping us tuned in Charlie. When you’re in Ottawa, the r.e.P. Is still at the rat trap every weekday from 12:30 - 1:30.

Hi Charlie and Team -- imagine my surprise when I was scrolling through the MeidasTouch website news to discover that some of the ads interspersed throughout the text of an article were for the Epoch Times!!! I looked for a link through which I could reach out to them directly, but couldn't find one. When you get the chance, would you please let one of the Meiselas brothers know that the Epoch Times is a far right-wing rag and accepting their advertising dollars is definitely NOT cool! NO, NO, NO!! Thanks, and double-thanks for all the work you are doing!

You can do that yourself by sending them a dm. I’m sure they would appreciate that. Good catch. I’m surprised though that Epoch snuck in like that.
