As ever, Charlie, you are on top of the situation. Loved "You do your worst, we'll do our best". Yes, thank you for bringing us together like this over the past two years. So very proud to be Canadian and know we stand bravely together, strong and free.
Hey Charlie! And MEIDAS TOUCH!!! Any chance you’d consider a town hall in Sarnia Ontario before our Municipal Election on October 26th? We’re worth it!!
Charlie and the Resistance - How can we make it so we all know the Canadian alternatives to all products. Tod Maflin has promotions for small businesses on his platform. How can we make this more widespread?
To help both Canadians and American citizens, I concur with Cory Doctorow: repel the bill C-11 (the Copyright Modernization Act adopted in 2012 by the Harper gov.) so that Canadian companies can legally help Canadians install Canadian app stores on their Canadian phone - and not paying 30% app tax to Google or Apple.
Bill C-11 made it a crime to alter how our digital device works unless the original (usually American) manufacturer consents. You've probably heard of the "kill-switch" in Tesla cars and other tech. There are "jail break" apps that could free consumers (both Americans and Canadians) from the tech overlords grasp.
A citation here from Pluralistic (dot) net:
"Not only will legalizing jailbreaking let Canadians get more out of their own property, it will turn America's tech trillions into Canada's tech billions – while making Canada digitally sovereign by facilitating the uncoupling of Canadian ministries, corporations, households, and devices from America's cloud. This is how Canada removes the digital kill switch it handed to America, a kill switch that can shut down its tractors, phones, and governments."
Trump is a Puppet for Vance, Greer, Lutnick, Basset, Miller, Witkoff, and the 2025 group, this bunch is running Trump and has the USA going in a dangerous direction. They are the people we need to be most worried about. With out these manipulators Trump is not capable of thinking.
For me, just the blatant stupidity of the USA voter to think that this charlatan was going to make life better for the people of the USA is just insane, and to do it twice shows that the USA is gone from any sort of reliable trade or friendship and trust is out the window for at least the next two or three generations.
If indeed this is war, this government had damn well better start treating it as such, and I don't mean just metaphorically. For example, what's become of that "300,000 person citizens' army" announced last December?* Maybe I've just been inattentive, but I've heard nothing about that for months. It needs to happen, pronto, and much more besides.
Because escalation is inevitable. The new tariffs won't reduce Canada to a vassal state - a North American version of Belarus to Cheetolini and his supporters' North American version of Russia - so the American regime almost surely will become more aggressive.
I appreciate that Justin Trudeau, Mark Carney, and their associates have dealt with the trade situation fairly shrewdly. However, I hope they understand that this won't stop with tariffs. For a banker and statesman like Carney, it may be difficult to comprehend that he's now dealing with, essentially, mobsters. "Nice country you got there, be a shame if somethin' happened to it."
Can’t help but have the image of Charles Nutlick (credit to Tim Miller of the Bulwark for that nickname) as the Grinch. After screwing with the trade talks he waited for Canadians to cry boohoo….. instead we join hands and sing. How very confusing for Americans that although we are bracing ourselves for a bumpy ride we are absolutely not crying.
Charlie, I don't know if it was on the Meidas Canada channel or on CBC.ca but there was a story I saw a couple of times detailing the struggles of a Manitoba beekeeper (Podolski Honey Farms) who would shortly be forced to shut down operations due to the upcoming U.S. tariffs. It seems the majority of their sales (wholesale) were to the U.S., unfortunately. This is a small, family business and I thought maybe if they needed some support to survive, well, maybe they'd like a Canadian customer. I emailed them and here is their reply:
"Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you so much for reaching out to us. We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible wave of community support following recent news about the 50% U.S. tariffs and their impact on our family business.
While the sudden shift in our primary export market is a major challenge, our operations in Ethelbert remain fully active, and our dedication to producing 100% pure Canadian honey hasn't wavered.
We are currently setting up an online store to sell directly to supporters like you. While we can't take orders just yet, we are working quickly to get it up and running, check back by the end of the week at https://www.podolskihoneyfarms.com/
Please stay tuned for launch updates and availability. We truly appreciate you standing behind Canadian beekeepers!
Warmly,
The Podolsky Family
Podolski Honey Farms
Ethelbert, MB"
Like some good Canadian honey? I'm going to get some buckwheat (yum!) when the site is up and I would encourage friends and neighbours to do the same.
What do you think it would take to get a bill before our MPs, to require clear labelling on all labels for all items sold here, indicating the level of Canadianism, so to speak. I'm sick and tired of seeing nothing on so many labels, except maybe Loblaws Group (or whatever it is), and a little maple leaf on the shelf talker, which seems to be maple-washing, as yeah, perhaps Loblaws Group is Canadian-owned, but the product could certainly be made in the U.S.
I want to see clear, easily-understood labels on the front of the package, indicating Product of Canada, Made in Canada, Prepared in Canada, Packaged in Canada, or No Significant Canadian Contribution, so that I can visually scan the products and see which ones I should be buying, without the maple-washing of shelf talkers, or having to pick up, search, google, and put down numerous products before I choose one.
While we're at it, I just heard something about how out west, grocery stores are not required to identify country of origin for produce, while here in Ontario, I think I heard that it is required; certainly I see it in the grocery stores that I frequent, and it helps a lot. Anything I see that is American, I avoid.
If that is the case, it should be mandatory on a federal level, not on provincial whims.
Since we need to continue to fight with our dollars, and ramp up our fight collectively to create massive momentum and give Trump the one-finger salute, it would certainly be helpful if we had clear tools to help us.
If most people commenting are for Canada uncoupling economically from the US, why are they not questioning the MP's who voted down the "No Loopholes Act ", Bill C233 which would have stopped the uninspected, free flow of explosives, munitions such as the tank shell propellant used by Israel in the murder of Hind Rejab, for example?
Canada is complicit in genocide and with over 550 military accords with the US, our military is setup to be lockstep with the US.
A Canadian officer serving with the US under such an accord was recently given a medal for overseeing the successful evacuation of a US military base which was targetted by Iran after the US and Israel launched unprovoked attacks on that country.
Ending military cooperation with the US, and Israel, would put Canada on the right side of hostory and ends our ongoing complicity in genocide.
Tariff on potash would be a very large mistake because by reducing crop yields -- more expensive input costs for US farmers would result in less fertilizer purchased-- food prices would go up for all Americans.
Charlie… a legitimate grassroots effort from Nanaimo BC to boost small Canadian businesses affected by the tariffs. Tod and Jocelyn are grassroots salt of the earth people. Have a watch and if you see fit, please boost this for others to see
Most of us here in America stand behind them completely because somebody has to‼️

Let us be masters of our tech !
As an American, I want Canadians to do whatever it takes to keep Canada GREAT! A shout-out to Camp de Peche Pamerleau

A must read for all Canadians.

Food prices in the US are going up anyway, because of the Trump admin's incompetence.
Canadian prices are also going up, due to the same US incompetence.
I'm sure other countries would appreciate the opportunity to have access to our natural fertilizer for THEIR crops.
Canada Strong, always and forever. No to tyranny and bigotry.
