Well…after writing to Elections Canada on March 23rd this is the email I received in response:

But we do need to have a response to these global platforms...there was a report of the Royal Commission on Violence in the Communication Industry in 1976...and the Royal Commission on Mddia report in 1981....seems to be time for something else like those which may lead to policies....

All my comment is explaining is that an armed civilian public has been a deterrent to US invasion for decades. 80% of gun deaths in Canada are suicides, so legal guns used in crime are very rare. As the RCMP and most people in any related department of government will agree, guns used in crime are smuggled in from the US.
Here's my prediction. Smith goes to Florida and makes a deal to remove tariffs if Pollievre gets elected. Pollievre cozy's up to unions saying only he can stop Trump tarriffs, Trump magically stops tarriffs, Polliever gets elected...viola. Pollievre supports Smith in quid pro quo.
Who censored during covid? Twitter, facebook, news, who invented disinformation? politicians and big tech used it to censor what turned out to be truth. They used the police as well to stop you from gathering and speaking out.

Facebook is dead to me. Meaning, I am pulling the plug on it on a matter of hours. The site didn't allow me to make changes to my profile, then a few months later broadcast my next, updated change to the world when it should have stayed at least semi-private.
Bottom line, I've seen only harm come from a site that once did at least some good. No more. Lesson learned. A (now former) friend asked me, before I joined, why I wasn't on Facebook. I have my answer, 15 years later, and it's so obvious to me as not to require an explanation. Done. FINIS. ADIEU.

Perhaps Canada should bar electioneering on social media (except for candidates themselves) for the month prior to the election. Russia and Musk should not be allowed to smear/defame Carney and elevate the Conservatives.
