PROTECT OUR DEMOCRACY FROM ELON MUSK
Canada’s Election Is at Risk - Here’s How You Can Help
I'm sure that you will agree that Canada must take all steps to protect our democratic elections from interference by offshore BOTs, AI, and, above all, from the increasingly dangerous actions of Elon Musk. I have been engaging with Elections Canada on the steps needed to protect the upcoming election from the possible exploitation of the powerful X algorithm.
Let me put it in context.
Last week, the German government went to court to force Elon Musk to turn over information on potential interference by Mr. Musk in the X algorithm. They want to know if it was used to interfere in the German election. Meanwhile, in the United States, disturbing reports suggest possible interference in Donald Trump's election campaign.
And Musk has been shooting his mouth off about Canada's upcoming election, so the potential for interference is obvious.
My Efforts to Get Answers
In January, I wrote to Stéphane Perreault, the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, asking two basic questions:
Is Elections Canada prepared to launch a proactive investigation into whether the X algorithm could be used to undermine the upcoming federal election?
Does Elections Canada have the tools to hold X accountable, including forcing the transparency of the X algorithm to prevent potential interference?
The response I received was hardly reassuring.
Mr. Perreault shared with me a link to Elections Canada's plan for online platforms, which included a voluntary code of conduct signed by the platform in 2019 – before Mr. Musk took control of X.
Mr. Perreault also politely scolded me by pointing out that foreign individuals have the right to share their views about Canadian politics.
Mr. Musk is not just an individual. He is the wealthiest man in the world, controls one of the most powerful influencing platforms, and has become increasingly emboldened in promoting extremist views.
The Next Steps
Not to be thrown off, I have taken the same fundamental questions to Caroline J. Simard, Commissioner of Canada Elections:
Is Elections Canada ready to protect our democracy from the hostile actions of the Trump/Musk gang south of the border?
Will they launch a proactive investigation into potential interference by Mr. Musk on the X platform?
Will Elections Canada contact Germany for advice on the steps necessary to access the X algorithm?
How You Can Help
Elections Canada must take this threat seriously, but they won't act unless they feel the pressure - this is where you come in.
We need to demand action. Contact Madame Simard and insist Canada take urgent steps to safeguard our democracy.
Make your voice heard today.

People reporting that the phone number for the Commissioner's office is not in service. This is strange and concerning. Here is the phone number for Elections Canada 1-800-463-6868
Charlie Angus has been the voice of reason for Canadians. Thank you, Charlie! Please understand we’re polite till we’re not polite. He said right now the US is not our ally. I honestly believe that NATO needs to take a stand. Ukraine. Ukraine should not be thrown under the bus. Canada shouldn’t be thrown under the bus all sovereign countries shouldn’t be.
