Happy Birthday to Us - 6 Months of Resistance
Today marks six months since we published our first essay on The Resistance. Since then, this community has grown into something none of us could have predicted.
We’re excited to share a big next step: we’re expanding into video production.
As an example of what’s coming, check out this video analysis exposing the connections between far-right gangs and right-wing politics.
Over the last 30 days alone, The Resistance has been read more than 1.6 million times.
We have supporters in every Canadian province and territory, every U.S. state, and our global reach continues to grow — with subscribers in Germany, France, the UK, Australia, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ireland, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, and many other countries.
This incredible reach shows that The Resistance has stepped up to fill a need.
It began as a frantic effort to rally Canadians to resist the threats Donald Trump posed to our nation. But it has since evolved into a platform bringing people across borders together to build grassroots resistance in an age of toxic disinformation and gangster politics.
It’s been a helluva job.
Since January, we have published over 160 essays and brought The Resistance Tour to British Columbia, Alberta, Newfoundland, and Ontario, with new stops planned for Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and Vancouver Island this fall. We also have a long list of communities we’d love to visit and people who are keen to help make it happen!
Last week our team held a rally with Canadian and U.S. union workers in St. John’s (video coming). Next week we are travelling to meet with progressive leaders from across the Americas in Mexico City.
As we move into video to expand our outreach, the workload has grown dramatically. Producing quality videos requires new investments — in equipment, editing, and expertise. But we believe this is a crucial step in building resistance against far-right ideologies and disinformation.
That’s why we’re reaching out today.
With just three of us on the team, this has become much more than full time work. We are going full out in coordinating, research, tour and helping grassroots resistance teams.

I’ll say congratulations on the anniversary for all the work that you have been doing, and for building a worldwide movement that is desperately needed to combat the fascist oligarchs and their pet politicians in every corner of the globe, but I truly wish that it wasn’t needed, and that you could get on with making music, writing books, creating art, and generally enjoying your retirement.
