There is a vigil online by SAND, Science and Non duality, I am not a member but they seem like an honest organization, You need to register.
Vigil is for August 17. It is a multi faith/belief event.
Description: Please join us along with Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb, Ashira Darwish, Shahd Abusalama, Omid Safi, Reverend Michael Yoshii, Rae Abileah, for a reckoning; a collective refusal; a gathering of those who cannot stay silent while genocide is being livestreamed.
USA is one of 5 nation states that has veto power in the UN Security Council. Time for that to change. So although over 139 members of the UN have stated this is a genocide and Israel is breaking numerous 'international laws' and committing horrific war crimes ... USA is alligned with the lykng Netanyahu Zionist government of Israel - and keeps him in government which keeps him out of jail. Same situation essentially in USA with Felon '45 & '47. So - this is what happens when criminals are presidents.
Nice writing Charlie. Hope all the murderous gynocidal fascist apologists and other ass licking isrehell sycophants read your well written words and realize that the civilized world see through their constant ugly lies and vile propaganda. Long live Palestine. Long live the brave Palestinian people fighting the loathsome occupiers, aggressors and oppressors. Their racist war of revenge and annihilation of the Palestinian people must end, now. Fascists, stop the massacres and killings of innocents conducted daily by the thugs and cowards in the shitty idf.
In collaboration with my friend and others along the way, we have organized over 60 vigils and events for Palestine here in Peterborough. We never imagined it would go on for this long. I can't imagine how Palestinians are enduring so much suffering. We expect to start weekly vigils again in September. In the meantime, we are distributing "Let Gaza Live" signs at the downtown farmers market. If anyone is interested in doing the same, we ordered 50 at a time and received seed money to cover the cost. Now we ask for a donation, and they are very popular. The donations are used to buy more signs. I am happy to send the artwork to anyone interested.
I've tried to get my neighbors (through Nextdoor) to join me for the past four weekends as I've held signs at a local 5-points intersection to protest the genocide in Gaza. So far, I've been joined by 1 person on two occasions. I've been told I'm an a$$hole and to go home three times. One man told me I was 'wrong'. Lots of honking and thumbs up from many drivers. I'll keep plugging away. I live in Portland, Oregon.
You are one brave American. I had a mini-family reunion with a few cousins currently living in USA last month - and left early. Could not believe the pervasivesness of the indoctrination.
I don't feel brave but do feel kind of vulnerable standing there. I just focus my mind on the images I've seen of Palestinian children, starving, amputees, and it gives me gumption.
What's people's sense of Yves Engler running for the NDP leadership? He's been a strong critic of the NDP's supposed weak stance on Palestine. Any opinions about this?
Before you leave to attend a Vigil for Gaza write to the Prime Minister. When you come home from the vigil write to your Member of Parliment. There are lots of ways to do this and at least an equal number of pro formas, formats and petitions to assist in expressing your outrage at their collective inaction if you prefer. {It's good politics to copy your message to opposing parties as well.}
Victoria, BC has a Jews for Ceasefire vigil every Wed 4-5 PM in Centennial Square by the city hall. We also have a rally and March from the BC legislature that starts between 2-3PM every single Saturday. There is also a Pots for Peace 1-2PM. Saturdays, in different intersections around the city. You can find them on FB. These efforts get a lot of support from our public.
Do you by any chance know how I can get in touch with the organizer's outside of FB? I haven't used FB in yrs & I don't care to make an account to accomplish my goal.....the need to apologise. I tried to find an email address, something, but came up short. Other than a link to the FB account you reference.
If you were there last Saturday, you might have seen the incident to which the police became involved.
I was the guy confronting the mouthy, bigoted POS telling everyone to F*** off, flipping the bird, then giddly confessing he was happy babies/children where being slaughtered. Seeing that level of hate, right in front of me, kinda makes a person snap, ya know?! Though I stand by my anger towards people like that, I regret creating a scene. It wasn't a good look for the movement.
I'm a middle aged "punker" & I find it hard not to "grief" these people. (Bigots, fascists, racists, Z'ists.) I just picked the wrong venue to do it at.
With all the crazyness going on in this world right now I just find myself angry, a lot, & I don't like it! Once I got home I (metaphorically speaking) had a good hard look at myself in the mirror. I didn't much like the guy looking back at me. I intend to do, be better going forward.
If FB is the only option, could I ask you a HUGE favour? Could you please pass my sincerest apologies along to both the organizer's & the people in the FB group who witnessed it 1st hand? I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide.
Thank you Suzanne, for standing up for the people of Palestine.
We’ve had Friday rush hour rallies for justice in Palestine for years here in central NY. I believe most of us have had de-escalation training numerous times. We have one young woman who I’m really impressed with. No matter the verbal or digital assault, she smiles, gives a friendly wave, and says “thank you”. She’s wearing an abaya, hijab and waves a large Palestinian flag. She’s an island of peace.
De-escalation is hard for some people, but reframing it usually works. The obnoxious heckler wants to make you react, get a rise out of you - sometimes, have you totally lose it. You don’t want to satisfy this person. On roadsides, I’ve found that a big smile, a hand wave, and a loud, friendly “Have a nice day, sir!”, shuts them up. If the person is actually in your face, compliment them in a genuine manner - definitely harder with the guys we encounter, so I’ll switch to the weather or ask about hobbies. It’s actually more fun for me to see if I can shut this person down and make them uncomfortable. Just always keep smiling and keep a friendly tone. View it as a sport!
Green Day fan approaching 70. Your lack of patience you describe is exactly what these fucktards are counting on. They view it as a win. You make them the losers they are by flashing your great smile and waving. We get lots of practice at anti-Trump protests. Dudes in pickup trucks with Trump and Confederate flags off the bed love to think they’re tormenting us. Flip ‘em off, and they’ll keep coming (trying to make it their protest). A smile, wave and “Have a nice day” deflates them and sends them on their way. De-escalating is particularly important here in Trumpestan because of our lack of gun laws. Better to kill with kindness than get ‘ol Billybob off his nut and turn it into a mass casualty. A definite worry down south.
Up here, if you don’t de-escalate a confrontation you’ve “contributed” to, you’re not welcome back - you’re a danger to the group.
Yeah I get it. It's why I won't be going to any more protests.
I view things differently. Sometimes you have to punch a bully in the nose.
With hindsight, my only real regret is that I did it AT the protest. Had I been smart, I should have followed him for a few blocks then confronted him.
The kid was half my age yet I could see in his face he was scared shitless that someone was confronting him. Pacifism is great and all, but some people need to learn the hard way that hate won't be tolerated. Like the Nazi's in both world wars....! Imagine had we tried your approach back then. We would have been living in a very different world for the last near century.
I hear you. I agree that approach is the better option, but...
I'm in my 50's, yet still veeery much a "teenaged punk rocker" at heart. (Still going to gigs....along with many others in my age group.) My patience for bigots, injustice, racists, facists, misoginists, genocidal maniacs, idiots, etc, is limited.
I admit I could use some deescalation training, but I'll always be an opinionated punker who has no problem being an asshole too, if need be.
These words by you hit home with me. “With all the crazyness going on in this world right now I just find myself angry, a lot, & I don't like it! Once I got home I (metaphorically speaking) had a good hard look at myself in the mirror. I didn't much like the guy looking back at me. I intend to do, be better going forward.”
I had a good cry last night and released my anger and sadness. Woke up this morning with a new mindset of taking care of myself and those around me and focusing on spreading my joy any way I can and wherever I can. I’m 100% committed to maintaining this mindset (reset). 🫶🏼
We are in crazy times eh? "Bizzaro world" as I like to say.
I too have shed many tears since this genocide (and other world events over the years) started. It may be viewed by "them" as a sign of weakness, ("Woke") when it simply shows, unlike "them", we have compassion for others! Even people we have never met. That is not now, nor ever will be a sign of weakness. Quite the opposite!
I keep wishing I could wake up from this nightmare, but every morning I'm "smacked in the face" with reality! We live in scary times. I feel powerless, & it, the anger, just grows. I keep yell into the void, but not only do things not get better, they are in fact getting worse. It's maddening! My 80 year old neighbour of 14 yrs keeps telling me "Stop reading/watching the things that are making you angry." but it's hard. I feel like that's "turning a blind eye". Maybe she's right, I should take breaks at least. A few days here, a few days there, just stay offline.
I'm glad you too are going to try be more positive going forward. :) It's a must. We need to take care of our mental health 1st & foremost! For ourselves & those around us. I have no blood relations, but my friends & their now adult kids are "the family I choose" in life & I want a better world for them, their kids/grandkids, all future generations. It just feels like we are currently going backwards. Ugh!
Again, thanks. Stay strong. If you need to talk/vent (Via direct message) I'm always here for you. :)
As it should be! I can't express how much it means to me when MTN does a video on Canada & I see comments (I can read comments for several hours after a video ends. On any video.) from people around the world standing with us in our economical fight against Donald's regime & MAGA followers....NOT the good people in the US! We see you!
*Anxiously awaits for "Maple Meidas Touch Network hosted by Charlie Angus" launch announcment!*
I feel very strongly for the people in Gaza. I feel like I missed something. The people left so Israel could get Hamas…but it hasn’t stopped. The people came back to rebuild THEIR LAND but the fighting hasn’t stopped and the US seems to think it’s their land…
Lying Trump pledged to end the war in Ukraine within his first 24 hours in office and his cult believed him.
On Friday, Trump is meeting Putin in Alaska. The only time Trump visited Alaska was for a refueling stop, for 20 minutes, and Putin’s never been.
This isolated location is perfect for two narcissistic felon dictators to trade lies about the crimes they’ve committed against their own people and people all over the world. They will play their favorite game of I CAN ONE UP YOU!
Here’s their first round:
Putin: I jailed Navalny
Trump: I jailed Kilmar Abrego Garcia in two countries.
Putin: I opened a new prison, Kresty -2, it holds 4,000 people.
Trump: I opened a death camp in a swamp with alligators.
Putin: I am stronger and can do 100 pushups.
Trump: I’m in the Epstein files more than 100 times.
Putin: I want Alaska back.
Trump: I want a peace prize.
Putin: (laughing at Trump) I don’t like peace. Peace is for weak people.
Trump: Can you get me a peace prize if I give you Alaska?
Putin: I can get you one today. I’ve got Dmitry Muratov’s prize in my closet.
Trump: What was it for?
Putin: His efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for democracy and lasting peace, according to the Nobel Prize organization.
Trump: (laughing out loud) Perfect. That’s what I did when I started Truth Social.
Putin: He shared the prize with an American.
Trump: Yeah, Russia and America are so much alike. I want it.
Putin: I brought it. I thought this might be a perfect gift.
As they leave their meeting Putin says to Trump, ‘I thought we were going to talk about Ukraine.’Trump replies, ‘No, you can have it and Alaska too. I got my prize.’

It's unbelievable what is happening in Gaza. Why can't the United Nations step in? There must be some way to help these poor people.

I'm not sure how to send the artwork for the signs but email me at mickyrenders@gmail.com and I will send it to you.
Please. In Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island BC - however would love to see your artwork. Wont poach. Looking for inspiration.
Micky, I hope you'll send details of the vigils to info@charlieangus.ca so that we can include details in our list.
I’m interested. Please message me. Thanks in advance.
Hello! Sorry I missed this. If you send me your email I’ll add you to our list!

It's not just collective inaction. Canada continues to export weapons and bullets to Israel and lie about it.
Plus component parts for bombs the the politios say they want to ban.

What the heck is "POS"? (Dearly wish people wouldn't use acronyms assuming everyone knows what they mean.)
You can look them up online. I do it all the time when I come across one I don't know...
But to answer your question:
POS= Piece of "fecal matter".

Those two monsters meeting in Alaska is a not too subtle reminder of Canada's precarious geographic position.
Perfect. Those 2 meeting in Alaska has nothing to do with Ukraine. It is for their best interest. Neither has any humanity.
Aid? 😂😂😂. Illiterate idiot propagandist
Blah blah blah. Everything is Anti semetic to you propagandist creeps. Fucking moron
BS. Go away lying propagandist Muppet
Hey whomever. Stop censoring my comments. To this cunt. Shove your racist cowardly propaganda
I hate the use of the c- word on my page. Do better.
Go away lying 😡 shitty propagandist Muppet 🤮
