If you read Heather Cox Richardson, her take is that the boats don’t carry fentanyl, as implied by Trump admin, since that is not made in South America. She also notes that it is easy to stop small boats, as the Coast Guard often does, by shooting out the motor. But that isn’t the point, of course. Right Honorable Carney and Honorable Anand don’t realize:if we don’t stand up for the victims and rule of law, no one will stand up for us.
Just a note, respectively, it is not accurate to say that Franklin is known for a desire to bring children and animals together. Franklin is a child himself, living in a world inhabited by other animals (no humans). It is definitely correct to say that he promotes compassion and it is also quite possible that the author has a strong desire to bring children and animals together. Sorry to be that guy, but Franklin is important to me and f*** that guy for tarnishing his image for evil, cynical, MAGA laughs.
We Canadians have a tendency to think of ourselves as a morally superior nation. When our foreign minister merely shrugs and passes the murders off with an inane comment, it makes us wonder- if our circumstances were more like America’s, would we react as the American citizens are doing…..completely debasing our moral judgement.
Shame on our foreign minister and any others of that ilk.
I had the Franklin books in my elementart school library. I was totally disgusted when I saw what Hogsbreath did to that gentle character and the fact that Franklin is a Canadian infuriated me even more. Our government is severely lacking in decency.
So appreciate your highlighting the book, The Cruelty is The Point. We must see these lunatics for what they are. Sick as in certifiably far outside the norms of human decency.
