American Psychopath
On January 7th, Donald Trump sat down with the New York Times and said something that should have stopped the American political establishment in its tracks. Asked about limits on his presidential power – both domestically and globally – Trump was blunt. The only constraint he accepted was:
“My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.”
Not the rule of law.
Not Congress.
Not the joint chiefs of staff.
Not his former allies in Europe and Canada.
It was darkly ironic that the only thing that could stop him was his own “morality.
This is a man without any.
At least 28 women have accused him of sexual assault. He was accused by two young women (Joan and Tiffany Doe) in court affidavits of child rape, beating a child victim and threatening to have her killed.
Those are similar accusations to what we have found from other young women in the latest dump of the Epstein files.
Trump’s claim that there are no limits on what he could get away with should have been a moment of outrage in the political world.
But it was barely noticed. Perhaps people were distracted by his attempt to shakedown Europe over control of Greenland, or the interference by his Justice Department relating to brutal paramilitary killings of civilians in Minneapolis.
And the comments were made just days after his snatch-and-grab invasion of Venezuela. Trump didn’t even try to cover up the reason for invading Venezuela. He made it clear he had no interest in “restoring” democracy or furthering the interests of the American people.
He had come for the oil.
Trump sent in the army with the instructions that the government in Venezuela would be forced to supply him with 50 million barrels of oil, and that he would keep the proceeds from the sales in an offshore account. This was the action of a gangster backed up by crack troops and aircraft carriers.
Since Trump returned to power, I have been referring to his regime as a hybrid form of gangster fascism. The media are now beginning to speak more confidently of the clearly fascist and far-right elements of MAGA, but they fail to see the dangerous gangster element in Trump.
It brings me back to his boast from 2016:
“I could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose any voters.”
As with all his other outrageous statements, it was faithfully repeated by the media while journalists rolled their eyes. He wasn’t being serious. He was just being… Trump.
I don’t believe Trump was being a smart ass. He was serious.
Trump’s success has been rooted in his pathological indifference to consequences and his knowledge that when it comes to his criminal behaviour, there are no consequences.
I have written extensively about his ties to both Russian intelligence and the Russian mob, about whether he accepted bribes from foreign leaders, and about the dark allegations of child rape and abuse.
At no time has Trump ever been seriously investigated. The media continue to give a free pass despite the long trail of evidence linking him to criminal acts. No wonder he sees himself as untouchable.
Trump’s 2016 election team was little more than a criminal mob, with 11 key Trump election advisors having been indicted or jailed for crimes.
In the rare moments when he or his cronies have been forced to go to court, the threats against judges and jurors have been without precedent. The judge in the Jean Carroll case warned jurors to stay low and remain anonymous because of the threats to their lives.
When Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort was finally brought up for trial, he faced 300 years in prison for a multitude of crimes, including mortgage fraud, conspiracy, and falsifying business records. The judge and jury in the trial had to receive special protection due to threats they faced.
And yet despite the threats against a sitting judge, the FBI cut a plea deal with Manafort. Then Trump gave him a get-out-of-jail-free card.
Imagine if the Gambino or Genovese crime families had the power to issue pardons for their convicted capos.
Not only does Trump have this power, but the Supreme Court has given him blanket protection for life. On July 1, 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court wrote:
“The nature of Presidential power entitles a former President to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority. And he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for all his official acts.”
The fascist nature of the MAGA Project 2025 is to push a white nationalist vision of a state with closed borders and a foreign policy based on supporting far-right groups in other nations who undermine democracies.
What we are now seeing is the emergence of gangster shakedown in foreign policy. This is even more frightening because it is capricious, cruel, and so arbitrary.
Canada needs to be fully aware of the psychopathic criminality of the man in the White House. We have been in his sights from the beginning. It would be dangerously naïve to think we can talk this out until the midterms, when Trump is somehow constrained.
He has made it clear that he accepts no constraints on anything he does. We are dealing with a heavily armed gangster.
Which brings me back to Trump’s 2016 musings that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and get away with it.
Given the nature of American politics today, he probably could.
With such arrogance, he appears more than willing to turn that predatory instinct against peaceful nations like Denmark, Canada, and Cuba.

He is in the process of starving Cuba out. He is going to rig the elections this fall. We, as Canadians can only hope the Orange Carbuncle is unsuccessful. Have no delusions, Canada is "on the menu".
The media in the USA is bought and paid for. Truth can be found at Charlie and Meidastouch, facebook (if you are able to decipher the truth from BS.) ,You tubers, Steve Schmidt, Rick Wilson and others. I learn a lot of news from Colbert and Kimmel. I find them factual which is why they want them silenced. This is the fight of our lives. Americans and Canadians both. I wish more Opposition MP's would join in the fight. This is not the time for division.
Good morning Charlie! Keep up the good work! You are a national treasure.
