Even if the world pretends it isn't happening
Even if the politicians are silent
Even if the doctors are being killed
It doesn't mean that you can't do something.
Even if there is no group for you to join
Even if you feel helpless
Even if you worry that people will think you are crazy
It doesn't mean that you can't do something.
A week ago, my mother decided she needed to speak up against the genocide in Gaza.
She said that as a grandmother, she had to raise her voice for the young mothers and children being starved.
She had never done anything political before.
My mother didn't have much of a plan; she was going to pay to have a sign made and stand out on the sidewalk with her walker.
"They may think I'm crazy," she said. "But I need to do something."
And so the first gathering of Grandmothers Against Genocide took place on a busy Toronto street. And she wasn’t alone. At least 30 people came to join her, with more promising to attend the next event.
All it took was one person saying it needed to be done.
Here is a short video from the event. Please take a moment to watch and share if it speaks to you. Click the photo below to watch.

People know in their hearts that we cannot let the gangsters decide our world.
Even in the darkest moments, there is always hope when ordinary people stand up for what is right.
We are kicking at the darkness until it finally bleeds daylight.
As a mother and a grandmother I endorse Anne Marie Angus’ message and support all of you who stand on street corners. The genocide must stop
It's obvious whose cloth you are cut from Charlie. The family resemblance is amazing physically and politically!
Your g mother might contact Raging Grannies to add a little political song if a chapter still exists there.
Well done G Mothers! You are truly grand!
Glad you are helping us organise Charlie. A new chapter in Canadian politics is evolving and gaining ground. The Resistance and Elbows Up!
