This morning at 9:37, just after the markets opened, Trump posted: ‘THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!’ And then he adds the letters ‘DJT’ — ‘DJT’ is the ticker symbol for his own company — a company that had plunged along with everything else [over the past week]. Fastforward to 13:30 today – Trump pauses those sweeping tariffs. His stock soars 21%. So anybody who actually bought DJ T made a lot of money. Everyone should have a problem with this. Former Bush White House lawyer Richard W Painter posted: ‘Market manipulation and misleading statements made with intent to affect securities prices and other fraudulent acts, in connection with securities markets, are federal crimes.’ These are serious things that should be looked into.
