She didn’t drop out- she completed school. She left the field because she realized how corrupt it was and her patients were only getting sicker.

I live in Vermont- many of us are into alternative health and eating a pure diet. Vermont is definitely not a state of trumpers, or fans of RFKJr. There is a huge gap between the fake wellness products and statements of creeps like Alex Jones and the hard working Vermont organic farmers, thoughtful naturopathic doctors, and our food coops and farmers markets. None of those are pro-trump institutions. There is a long history of this sort of left-oriented hippy, type alternative life style.

I feel like RFKJr and the rest of these grifters have distorted our truth and made it into something really ugly.

🤣 Bernie is the grifter — he sold out and admitted he “only took 1.5 million” from pharma, while RFK Jr took 0.

Tulsi Gabbard's own family has had its rifts, though hard to find online re the murder of her aunt in 2024. There is no causal link to the apparently mentally disturbed colleague who killed her, but Caroline Sinavaiana Gabbard's public criticisms are now silenced of the Samoan government on its continued use of paraquat, an increasingly suspected link to Parkinsons Disease, and of her own niece for Tulsi's deepening links to MAGA ideologies: “I find my niece’s apparent penchant for parroting extremist toadies such as Tucker Carlson and vile ‘strongmen’ such as Vladimir Putin, to be problematic and deeply troubling,” Sinavaiana-Gabbard told The Independent in 2022, https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/tulsi-gabbard-aunt-murder-statement-b2557391.html - and - https://www.samoaobserver.ws/category/samoa/109458

Everything he touches is already tainted or becomes so shortly after he touches it. But, "the people" everywhere should know this by now. The wealthy and their own will always get what they need in vaccines, and other forms of medical care. Everything Trump does points to that if you aren't a member of that club you'll have to struggle to get any of it. They seem to be pushing for the survival of the fittest for the rest of America. I hope Canada will continue have watchdogs to keep all Canadians safe. I suspect that isn't part of our "conservatives" plans either.

Thank you so much, Charlie! You are the voice of reason and resistance and over here in the not United States, I appreciate you so much. I am so scared and disgusted by what is going on here. I will continue the fight. So grateful for your support.

Not sure what you mean by, "Without independent media and empowered public institutions, Trump's power would dissipate" Did you mean his power would concentrate?

Back in 80's Spy Magazine came up with an epithet for Trump: SHORT-FINGERED VULGARIAN

I think it appropriate

Autism has been around since the late 1700's when a doctor in Scotland published a document that read like a list of autism behaviours. It's not new and it's not vaccines.

There is a set of diagnostic guidelines for autism. The original Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) was laid out in 1989. There was a major update in 2012 which lead to a jump in the number of diagnosed children. We are simply better at identifying autism. Genetics is about 60%-80% of the cause. There are a lot of genes involved. One study showed that in identical twins, both would have autism. Fraternal twins did not follow that pattern, one could autistic and the other not. There are also environmental factors. Continuing research is discovering more relationships.

I keep rereading this sentence, and wonder if you meant the opposite? "With" instead of "Without"? Or is my brain just not working....(always a possibility! ) "Without independent media and empowered public institutions, Trump's power would dissipate." Anyone?

Like other commenters I have family in this bubble. How do you combat it? Agression and confrontation lead to them doubling down or falling back on their "science" and it feels impossible to reach them.

I feel like most have mental health issues and need a psychiatrist but none will go because it's"brainwashing" and medication makes them "sick."

Thanks Charlie for alerting us about the current frightening loss of credibility from the USA institutions of the CDC and NIH. Up until the Trump administration assumed power, these were the pinnacles of knowledge and research in medicine and public health. Now they are a joke and not to be believed.

You brought up the issue of Measles in the USA but truthfully the outbreak in Canada is much worse with over 1500 cases reported thus far in 2025. Ontario, ignominiously, leads the way. Shamefully this should not happen in Canada and I'm not sure why that is. Our public heath reach should be quite wide and all encompassing. I'm not aware of a huge vaccine denial conspiracy in Ontario and the rest of Canada. So perhaps we need the individual provinces and territories to pick up their game.

Health Canada needs to stream line a weekly news bulletin distribution , accurate and current, to inform all health care workers and the general public, of ongoing diseases and food safety issues. I find the website for Health Canada too busy and confusing.

If readers would like a credible weekly source of viruses and other illnesses, I would recommend TWIV on Microbe TV (U-Tube) with Drs Racaniello and Griffin, 2 very credible virologists. You will receive unbiased scientific reports of ongoing worldly disease issues.

Thanks Charlie

Conspirituality is here as well - this blog helps me with this baffling parallel between anti-science and resistance to vaccines and the far-right. But I personally know several people who are anti-vaxxers.

I'm all for wellness. I'm all for food that people can afford that is healthy and available. I'm also for good exercise regimes. What I'm against is denial that vaccines, which decreased infant mortality and increased longevity by a huge amount in the last century, are good for society.

This is an important article about the insidious marriage of health and wellness culture with ‘ purity’ and crank pseudo-science. Very very disturbing. So many young people have not developed critical thinking about these issues and are vulnerable to crackpots. Alarming in Canada- I heard on TVO today that the measles outbreak in Canada is per capita worse than the USA.

The links to between alternative health and Nazism are very explicit in the historical record. The SS economic and administrative head Lt. Gen. Oswald Pohl was "an enthusiastic disciple of the health food theory". Auschwitz commandant Rudolph Hoss wrote that Pohl's goal was "to dissuade the German people from using health-damaging foreign spices and artificial medicines and to switch to the use of harmless, good-tasting German spices and natural herbs for illnesses." The herb garden Pohl was so interested in was in the Dachau concentration camp, tended by prisoners - Source: 'Death Dealer: The Memoirs of the SS Kommandant at Auschwitz'
