REVOKE MUSK'S CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP

A Petition from Ordinary Canadians

Canadians across the country are rallying behind a petition to revoke Elon Musk's citizenship. Like so many incredible acts of resistance, this initiative comes from the grassroots. One of the things that makes me proud of Canadian democracy is that ordinary people can write up these petitions and have them presented to Canada’s parliament.

The language in the petition is straightforward:

Petition to the Prime Minister

Whereas:

• Elon Musk has engaged in activities that go against the national interest of Canada;

• He has used his wealth and power to influence our elections;

• He has now become a member of a foreign government that is attempting to erase Canadian sovereignty; and

• The attempts of Elon Musk to attack Canadian sovereignty must be addressed.

We, the undersigned, citizens of Canada, call upon the Prime Minister to revoke Elon Musk's dual citizenship status, and revoke his Canadian passport effective immediately.

Musk was not born in Canada. He received his citizenship through his mother who lived two years in Canada before moving with her family to South Africa. He showed up in Canada for a time when he was in university.

It has been suggested that since Canada is a nation governed by the strong rule of law, revoking citizenship for "political" reasons sets a dangerous precedent.

I don't buy it. We have precedent.

In the 1980s, there was another extremist who used his international media platform to spew hate and disinformation. His name was Ernst Zundel. He continually laughed at Canada's laws against hate speech. He was ultimately jailed and then deported from our country.

Canada and the world were better because we stood up to Zundel.

And now it's time to stand up to Musk.

He has the power and reach that Zundel could only have dreamed of. Musk stood on the presidential inauguration stand and gave a fascist salute. Musk uses his platform to promote extremist parties in Europe. And now he is using the Starlink infrastructure to threaten the people of Ukraine, who are on the frontline in the war against tyranny.

This man represents the worst of humanity. Canada must be a country that strives for the best.

It's time we tell this rat he will never be welcome in our country.

This is about defending Canadian sovereignty and ensuring our democracy is not undermined by billionaires with foreign allegiances.

Canadian citizenship is more than just a status; it is something people work hard to earn. Our nation has been greatly enriched by those who chose Canada and work hard every day to build better lives for their families. They don't take this privilege for granted. We should not squander this privilege on those who undermine the very principles that Canada stands for. Canadian citizenship should mean something.

It’s more than just a passport.
