Today, was the first step toward fighting back against Trump.
The “Pledge for Canada” movement launched in Ottawa with the Council of Canadians Jean Tiellet (great-granddaughter of Louis Riel) and Olympic hero Mark Tewksbury. They represent the incredible spectrum of voices who have joined us, like former Premier Danny Williams, political veteran Alan Rock, Indigenous activist Cindy Blackstock, and a host of cultural heroes from Arcade Fire to the Skydiggers.
We are here to fight for Canada, and we need you to sign your name and join the movement.

We have come together because our beloved nation is under threat.
It is an economic threat, but it is also a threat to our values of decency and inclusion, our sovereignty, and our very future as a nation.
The threat comes from the president of the United States – a convicted felon and known predator. He’s threatening massive tariffs to try and break us. But that’s not going to happen.
The Pledge for Canada calls on Canadians to join us in the resistance. It is about committing to a vision of a nation that cannot be traded away by appeasement. It is a pledge to hold our elected leaders to defend the values that we hold dear as Canadians.
We will not give up our belief in an inclusive democracy, equity, and human rights. We must combat foreign interference from both public and private actors and the manipulations of digital platforms. We must take on the American oligarchs.
We must prioritize protecting our environment, maintaining control over our water, and staying focused on the climate crisis.
We need to work with our allies around the world to protect democracy in the age of Trump and Putin. We cannot turn away from our historic role of being a humanitarian friend to deal with the suffering in the world. Our borders must continue to welcome and protect those seeking and deserving shelter in our lands.
So, what does a pledge mean?
This is the first stage of a more broad-based resistance movement to defend our beloved nation and respect the sacrifices of Canadians who had come before us and gave them all so that other countries might live in freedom.

We are Canada. And we do not bend or break.
Sent to my Canadian cousins. My late mother was Canadian born and married my Dad, an American. I’m a native NYer and sure as hell didn’t vote for the orange felon either time. Wish I could sign this but please know that many Americans are heartsick over how this election turned out and we love our neighbors.
Bravo! I’m all in
