Why Trump changed the borders on the “Gulf of Mexico” He's checking the “Outrage Barometer” to see whether he can get away with! 🤔 Next is Canada's 🇨🇦 Borders 😡
So in terms of countermeasures, there are things other than tariffs that could impose costs on the United States or make them think twice. So for instance . . . normally, if some country is the boss of a military alliance, you would only be in that military alliance if the country bossing it was, well, your ally. Is the United States our ally? Apparently not.
So, why are we in NATO?
Increasingly it seems as if the main threat to our sovereignty that we might need a military alliance to defend ourselves against is . . . the United States. Denmark might say the same. And Mexico. And, well, large parts of Central and South America.
Nationalizing some key American-owned companies in Canada might be relevant as well. Such as, for instance, those oil companies that export all that oil to the US. Maybe if we nationalized them, we could tell them to stop with spending millions of bucks to promote climate change denial and white supremacists, and to take Danielle Smith off the payroll. And we could stop sending the profits south, and we could maybe have them build refineries in Canada, or we could skip that and just make them diversify towards renewable energy instead of doing their best to sabotage the transition. There are also key institutions that built Canada which now belong to the US--the Canadian Pacific railway company, for instance. And the Hudson's Bay Company . . . good grief, that's OUR evil colonial heritage, the yanks have no business owning it. Take 'em back, and in the case of CP, use it to rebuild and expand and high-speedify Canadian rail infrastructure, helping better connect Canada internally. (We should have grabbed Greyhound when it was stopping operations and run it as a public service--there's probably people dead because we didn't)
Finally, we're staring a trade war with the United States in the face. Can we afford a trade war with China at the same time? It would sure bother the US if we stopped helping them with that.
I wish the Convoy of Crying Karens who stormed Ottawa demanding the keys to government in 2022 hadn't hijacked our flag. I don't want to be associated with that horde when I wave it proudly.
I noticed there was NO mention of Canada's border being a problem in their 2025 Project. It's all smoke and mirrors and there's always some Trump or Musk centred agenda at play.
I think Charlie is right about everything except one: the patience of capitalists with an uncertain US economy. I believe that Trump has promised them a new world order in which a corporate-, not citizen-centered, government will be the U.S. approach. Republican tech billionaire Robert Thiel has argued that democracy restrains the freedom of corporations to fulfil their purpose. What does that say in a country whose courts have declared that a corporation has the same legal standing as an individual person? I think many capitalists have the resources and patience to withstand sticker shock in the market until democracy can be done away with in order to “let that bull run free!” And I believe many Americans will tacitly accept this, either because they believe that billionaires will allow something to trickle down to them (repeatedly disproved over the last century) or simply because it will mean freedom from government intervention, for good or ill.
Joined the pledge already. Great effort. Thank you for the extra commitment you have made. We have already donated to ONDP so Ford’s $200 pre-election bribe with our own money will go to federal NDP.
A storm is brewing in the North. The people of Canada, once America’s greatest admirers, now watch in disbelief as the nation we once revered teeters on the brink of collapse. We see a once-mighty republic consumed by internal chaos, gripped by corruption, and manipulated by forces that seek to erase its founding principles.
For decades, we Canadians believed in the promise of America. We saw a nation built on freedom, courage, and innovation. But today, that beacon flickers, threatened by forces both foreign and domestic—globalists, bureaucratic elites, and shadowy operatives who care nothing for the common citizen. They manipulate elections, silence dissent, and rewrite history. We have watched this unfold with growing alarm, because what happens to America does not stay in America.
The infection of woke ideology, the dismantling of law and order, and the vilification of those who defend liberty—it all spills over our shared border. It seeps into our institutions, poisons our politics, and threatens our own national identity. The same forces working to undermine America have their claws in Canada, pushing us toward submission to global control. We see it in the suppression of free speech, the attacks on independent thought, and the increasing criminalization of those who dare to question the official narrative.
But we also see something else: resistance. We see truckers standing up against tyranny. We see patriots across our provinces refusing to bow. We see Canadians waking up. The media will never tell you this, but the people of Canada are watching, waiting, and hoping. Hoping that America, the America we once knew, will rise again. Because if it falls, so too will we.
The world is at a precipice. The forces of darkness believe they have already won. But they underestimate the resolve of free people. Canada has not abandoned America—we are watching, and we are ready.
How much Hollywood production comes north of the border to make hay with our pathetic dollar? Shut em down! Tell every Canadian mega star and actor and technician and musician in the US to stop everything they’re doing and keep those productions from ever moving forward. We need to show them how awful life is without the Canadians.
Thank-you Charlie Angus. Things are going to get really bad. Please keep reminding us all that the sacrifice is worth it to protect our Great White North, and our Canadian values.
I’ve always enjoyed visiting the US and I have many family members down there, all over. But somehow, when I cross back over that border into Canada, something changes. There’s a different vibe up here that I love. I know I’m Home.

Now he is occupying Gaza. This is beyond crazy.

I also donated the federal NDP, at this point I will take anything but PP.
To President Trump,

The question is—are you?

to paraphrase Charles de Gaul of all people: "Vive le Canada. Vive le Canada Libre!"
I am a retired Canadian living in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico. Were I living in Canada, I would want to be part of The Resistance. My heart is with you.
If you still have citizenship welcome to the battle.
Well said, Charlie.
I would like to add, we love our neighbours to the south. We all have friends that live there. We have vacationed there.
It is the actions of the wannabe dictator and his terrorist group we loathe.
Great post. Time for Canada to show strength.
Thank you Charlie, for reminding us of the sacrifices our forefathers made to rid the world of fascists. Now it's our turn.

Thank you. This lifted my spirits considerably.
