Since Jan. 1, my wife and I have stopped buying American sourced food products whenever possible. We are in our late 70s and have a dog and 3 cats so we have all those mouths to feed. To the end of April, we can determine that on an annual basis, we will have spent a hair under $7,000 less with American companies. If just 1% of Canadian shoppers do the same, we will have successfully removed about $3,000,000,000 from the U.S. economy. We have done things like saying no more Kellogg's corn flakes (something we've both eaten since we were kids) and hello Jordan's cereals from the U.K. We don't buy the P.C. pancake mix because it's American and instead we buy the Pearl mix made by an American company in Peterborough (used to be called Aunt Jemima). It's taken time to educate ourselves but we feel we are doing something to combat Trump's utter disrespect for our country.

I always hate acronyms because they are like a secret code for insiders only but sometimes, there is a bit of fun in reshuffling. How about:

MAGA = more American Greed…Again

MAGA= Making American greedier again

This is just about a bully crossing the line. “Never say never” is what a creep says before he tries to take what isn’t his. We’re not handing over a damn inch. We didn’t ask for this fight, but if it’s here, we show up, boots laced, spine straight. The True North STRONG and FREE!

I never what to see Canada 🇨🇦 ever taken over by Fascism and I truly believe it will never happen but every Canadian has to stay vigilant that it doesn't. You have a great leader in Prime Minister Mark Carney. He is The right person at the right time to be leading Canada and the Canadian people.

Charlie I'm so proud of you and the Canadian people for showing djt what it means to be Canadian and what it means don't tread on us. I think it was a eye opening shock to see the Canadian people band together and set a course to not be bullied. I knew exactly how the people of Canada would act and I was not disappointed. Stay vigilant protect and honor The True North Strong and Free Forever.

If I heard correctly, Mark Carney is taking away the retaliatory tarriffs to the US that he said he would keep on leading up to the election. If this is true, I am enraged, as I voted for the Liberals based on Elbows Up!!!! :(

“ Canada’s finance minister said the government kept 25% retaliatory tariffs on tens of billions of dollars in US goods, disputing a report from a research firm that suggested it had paused the vast majority of those levies.

Francois-Philippe Champagne, Finance Minister, said 70% of the counter-tariffs implemented by Canada in March are still in place, according to a social media post Saturday. The government “temporarily and publicly paused tariffs” on some items for health and public safety reasons, he said.

The 70% figure implies that Canada continues to charge tariffs on about C$42 billion ($30.1 billion) of US exports to Canada, excluding automobiles.”

Here's my take. Regardless of constitutionality, treaty rights, or any other concern, DS isn't just following the Trump playbook; she's actively colluding with the Trump administration, and has been since before her first trip to Mar-a-Lago.

The o&g industry that Alberta, and DS, depends on is largely American owned. Those companies would love to be operating under the drill, baby, drill paradigm in the new America. Furthermore, US administration needs our energy, water, and critical minerals, especially now that it has "unleashed AI".

Danny reducing the threshold to call a referendum by 75% is not a coincidence, nor simply a reaction to the Liberal win. A majority vote could be used by the US administration as a pretext for heavy economic sanctions and/or military operations in the name of supporting the democratically expressed will of the people of Alberta, liberating them from the tyranny of the Liberal government.

That is a risk, I agree. A state of emergency can easily be declared in the US in response to any number of invented factors and the boss in Moscow used the pretext of "saving" Ukraine from Nazification. We have real and glaring precedent for that.

Charlie, I have a t shirt that says "Canadians draft beer not soldiers" that our son proudly wore in his teen years. I remember being asked by an American friend would I take his son into my home if the U.S.A. sent him a draft notice . I said yes!

The flag wearing and waving "patriots"(from the Trucker convoy that started out west in Canada want to join the U.S. They were "supported" by P.P. (the U.P.C. party) when he stood with them in Ottawa and they went on to block the Coutts border and some were armed with guns! The Windsor border cost the taxpayers and economy a lot of money! So now they will gladly wrap themselves in the U.S. flag to be drafted into the American forces ? Do they know this?

Being told to wear a mask and get vaccinated they couldn't even do that. Can you imagine the Maple Maga on being drafted if they ever get the chance to turn our country over to the U.S.A.

They worry about the gun control laws in Canada of which I am pretty sure the guns they want to keep, our grandfathers would not touch and did not need to provide for their family. Who are they kidding?

The intrusion of the U.S.A. into our country in the west has been played out in the same way in many other countries before they started here.

We, who have witnessed the Cuban missel crisis, the Vietnam war , the Kent State University shooting of protesters , the "Shock and Awe" campaign of the gulf wars ...say no thanks, not sorry, love my neighbor but don't want what they have. Elbows Up!

Thank you, Charlie. Thank you for standing up and speaking out and for challenging us all to do the same. It’s been inspiring to see how Canadians simply decided to say no, we will not be bullied by oligarchs and fascists, but we have to keep up this fight in the months ahead. I pledge to continue to do my part in whatever way I can, to keep Canada strong and free. Resistance is not futile!🇨🇦
