Now we all know that the Great White Dope has the IQ of a grasshopper - with apologies to grasshoppers everywhere - but for the love of Christ, does he really think any Canadian will ever buy US liquor, at least while he's in office? Does Lutnick? Does Hoegstra? Or are they simply too afraid to tell him? So we'll end up warehousing a one-time supply of costly American liquor. Whoops... that's right, folks, let's take that junk on consignment only. Or again, only in "sample" quantities. Just say we have to sell the old stock first. That's 10 years right there.
BTW our small, independent distillery sector is booming right now. FAFO.

They make an excellent point. Time for our government to make this happen. In total Canada has only 55 dedicated water bombers as of now. Not nearly enough.

You may have noticed ads about aerial herbicides being sprayed on our clearcuts. Glyphosate is commonly known by brand names like VisionMax, Clearout, or Roundup, though other chemicals like triclopyr and imazapyr are also used in certain jurisdictions. Glyphosate is also a dessicant that uniformaly kills and dries out the forest floor. Farmers also like it for the same reason when they are harvesting wheat or other grains. Carcinogenic effects aside, why do we continue spraying this dessicant during dry seasons.
Foresters describe it as being used for conifer release: Helicopters or drones apply the herbicide to suppress broadleaf trees and shrubs (such as alder, birch, and raspberry).Commercial growth: The goal is to reduce competition so planted or desired softwood conifers (like pine, spruce, and fir) can dominate the site for lumber and fiber production.
However, some jurisdictions such as Quebec and Poland practice forestry without using glyphosate. Bayer, which bought out Monsanto, has a constant campaign to bring glyphosate into these areas and have it used worldwide. Again, another example of industrial insanity that grips the world. Again, not much use writing letters or local campaigns. The Carney government has increased the use of these deherbicides. Sounds like more blockades.
The idiots down south think that the booze boycott is a federal matter. Our PM is letting them keep that illusion while he says we'll do away with the boycott but need some concessions. I think this is a brilliant play. Canadians are the ones doing the boycotting....the government doesn't have to say a thing. I trust our PM implicitly. He's done and is doing a great job!
I lost all trust in PM Carney after Bill C-5. That was a Doug Ford move. Guy has a tough job but his party was elected based on an expectation that democratic and environmental values would be upheld.
I wish the NDP had had a stronger leader at the time. Carney holds way too much power now.
I agree Dorothy. Please put "What has pm Carney done for the environment" into a Google search. There have been a lot of good things, but also a lot that concern me. With regards to fossil fuel 'expansion', I believe that he is letting the 'market' handle this issue. I haven't heard of any company willing to put the capital into these projects. And any that will want to build a gas pipeline will need to offset with carbon capture which to my mind is A. very very expensive and B. Not really proven. I suspect he is like the saying goes, sly as a fox. Time will tell. He has a LOT of conflicting pulls to any policy and with the morons down south...I don't envy his position. To get good insight into his mind I'd recommend the book he wrote, Values: Building a Better World for All. It's a pretty heavy read, but very interesting. Take care.
