Dear Charlie, As hard as you are working with your somewhat formalized resistance, and I truly champion you for your effort, I have to say what has been impressing me more than ever is how everyday Canadians have been changing to a large extent their shopping habits, without being mandated, to purchasing exclusively Canadian products. The grocery stores and more have made concerted efforts to emphasize products on their shelves that are Canadian- made or grown. The great thing is, this IS who we are! I believe most Canadians are generally 'community minded' and in this beautiful country that forms all of our communities, we respond to the threat of an unfriendly situation by supporting each other the best we can. Keep doing what you do everyone!

Noam Chomsky - “The End Thoughts”: (29:31)

“The future does not belong to the powerful by default. It belongs to those who resist the normalization of hypocrisy.

The future belongs to those who understand that the real threat to peace is not Uranium enrichment in a centrifuge but Moral impoverishment in the corridors of power.

Let us rise against the selective outrage that brands other nations as rogue, while enabling others to stockpile Annihilation.

Let us rise for a world where security is not defined by might but, by mutual respect.

If Irans plans for Nuclear power are still on track, let that be a signal, not of danger but of resilience. A call for justice to prevail over intimidation. For truth to challenge propaganda. For peace to emerge from the ruins of Hypocrisy.

We do not need more weapons, we need more wisdom, we do not need more sanctions, we need more sanity, and above all, we do not need more war games. We need the courage to imagine Peace, not as surrender, but as sovereignty recognized, respected, and secured for all.”

Comment on the current fast track bills bypassing careful consideration and indigenous consultation. As well, the people may be elbows up but it doesn’t seem like our PM is. Cozying up to Trump, getting excited about the Golden Dome. Wazzup? Secret meetings. Who did we elect?

CANADIAN CITIZEN DIES IN ICE CUSTODY.

A step too too far. Canadians must demand on the ground oversight of All Canadians detained.

Love your work, but... didn't Bruce Cockburn author the last line of your post, the one about kicking the darkness? (From Lovers in a Dangerous Time)

Yep, he did. "Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight

Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight"; very appropriate in this day

I'm so glad you continue to lead this charge Mr.A. The positive values in every person can be accessed with encouragement from folks like you. Canada may be on the frontline giving this message but others aren't far behind. Take the success of Zohran Mamdani of New York City as a recent example that goodness can sway voters. No borders. Together we will overcome.

I did a little bit of research on the percentage of unionized workers in the USA and Canada. This is what I found:

"In the United States, the union membership rate for wage and salary workers in 2024 was 9.9%. This means that roughly one in ten workers were represented by a union. This rate has slightly declined from 10.0% in 2023. "

"In Canada, approximately 30.4% of workers were covered by a collective bargaining agreement in 2023. This includes both union members and non-members covered by a union contract. The union coverage rate is significantly higher in the public sector (76.7%) than in the private sector (15.5%)."

The dark side counts on us to loose interest in the fight. Ain't gonna happen. Talk to people. And keep talking to people. Keep wearing the shirts and having the conversations. You're fighting for them too, only some of them don't quite understand that yet.

Charlie, great speech, and I agree with the themes you articulated! While I am an AI enthusiast, we also have to detect and reject AI-generated polution of the political information ecosystem. This is a real threat that is described very well in this piece in The New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/26/technology/ai-elections-democracy.html?unlocked_article_code=1.R08.ODAa.Z2cWp0teHiLw&smid=url-share. I encourage everyone to take a reading, and I note, it is not U.S.-centric and there is no paywall.

Charlie, I so appreciate all your work helping us all stand up for Canada. I would love to see you and Margaret Atwood team up for a talk. I'm currently reading her book The Testaments, the sequel to Handmaids Tale and it doesn't feel like fiction....
