Good riddance. You and your whole corrupt caucus sat back while Trudeau et al ruined the Canadian experience. If youād had a shred of integrity the NDP would be in great shape as a viable option to the self serving Liberal parasites.
Had the NDP called the election months ago like they had promised and lied about they would be the official opposition right now. Charlie you were one of the Mps leading the charge to continue supporting the Liberals. If you truly represented workers you wouldnāt have propped up a government actively working against the interests of workers.
I get it, Charlie. I voted for you to lead the party in 2017, and totally understand what you're doing. You'll have a lot more fun with this, and so will those of us who want to continue to have some fun while working/playing for change. YES!
Thank you for all your years of service, Charlie Angus. I have had a few people asking me if you would run for the leadership. I have been replying that you have found your platform and take on the leadership would put constraints on your advocacy. Thank you for clearly stating that "Resistance" is the way to a stronger socially responsible world (starting with Canada.
Charlie, itās saddens me that you wonāt run for leadership of the NDP. I grew up in the time of Jack Layton⦠he was always for the people as you are. I see so much of Jack Layton in you! The NDP needs you! Stay true to your calling..
Hi Charlie - I am pleased to have read your clarification about seeking NDP leadership; much as there is to recommend the rebirth of the NDP, I am very pleased that you will "focus from here on with The Resistance. I am committed to the fight for Canada." We need your industry, your skill, and your understated sense of humour. To paraphrase Ecclesiastes, there is a time and place for everything; in Canada, and with her allies, this is a time for nation-building, not internecine feuds among wannabe politicos. The concept of nation-building will seem an anathema to many, but those messages need to be left behind as we seek a more fulsome path forward, internationally. Er, elbows up!
I hear you, and I respect your decision, Charlie. But I canāt help but wish that youād reconsider. You have a quality about you that is lacking in politics. People respond to it.
Regarding the question of why so many NDPers voted conservative, I have two thoughts.
1) My Dad made me read Eric Hofferās book, The True Believer, when I was a kid. It always stuck with me. Hoffer looks at how folks who are further left or right are actually more predisposed to swing to the other end of the spectrum than they are to go centrist; perhaps motivated by a desire for change; absolutist thinking (everything is broken! We need radical change! And then they swingā¦).
2). The Conservative Party has targeted the 18-34 year old demographic of young, blue collar workers, and maybe the NDP needs to shore up that crowd. Growing up in Sudbury, I was hauled into the Steelworkerās Office weekly with my Dad, and he and his chums were always ātalking unionā. We grew up knowing all the words to āUnion Maidā and watched Harlan County USA on a reel to reel. I donāt see or hear that discourse anymore. I think (I knowā¦here we goā¦blame the internet) the Internet has spurred a kind of individualism that counters collective movements. There is unprecedented focus on personal wealth vs social integrity and wellness. There are so many movements afoot right now that āotherā ā they create groups to rail against in our unease, and while weāre railing against āothersā, weāre operating with psychological software that runs completely counter to core NDP values.
Charlie, so good to hear you're fightin the good fight in your own way. The world needs your example. The US needs one of you too. The young folks in govt are beginning to step up & carve their way through the bs. The Mighty shall prevail. The Fall of Maga is begun. The Power of Self Government shall return to its True Owners We The People!
While I agree that NDP lost mostly because of strategic voting to beat Poilievre, I do believe that NDP failed to give guidance to voters and coordinate on strategic voting (the Greens pulled its nominees to avoid vote splitting which would benefit the Cons), and it was irresponsible for Jagmeet Singh to walk away from the supply-and-confidence agreement which would only put Poilievre in office. As much as I want to imagine how the NDPs would have been different had Charlie beat Jagmeet in 2017, I think at this moment Charlie would be much more effective and have much more freedom in The Resistance Movement than being in public office.
Thank you for your services Charlie šØš¦
Thank god you want to stay out of politics. Your illusions of grandeur & worth are hilarious. The home is still looking for you.
Love it. Iām with you, Charlie: my focus will also be dedicated to The Resistance. Elbows up, Canada!
Thank you for all you are continuing to do, Charlie
We need ya, Charlie. Carneyās honeymoon will be over soon and heāll have to make deals with the democratic socialists to pass anything.

Very insightful and interesting comments. I look forward to reading more of your messages. Thanks
