I'm in favour of expanding the boycott to the financial realm by:
1) Switching investments in stocks and mutual funds to all-Canadian or minimally-American portfolios. That includes RRSPs, RIFs and TFSAs.
2) Demanding that federal and provincial/territorial pension fund managers be instructed to divest from American stocks, bonds and mutual funds. How absurd is it that Canada's biggest supporters of American businesses are likely the CPP and OPP?
3) Encourage Canadians to bank with Canadian banks not American branches here. Likewise for investment companies.
I accept that my personal choices will perhaps limit my returns, but short term pain is a small price to pay for the long-term gain of Canada and Canadian businesses.

I live across the street from ScotiaBank, and I have seen on several occasions a GardaWorld armed courier truck stop outside the branch and its personal go.into it, or come out. The trucks are gray, with orange and purple lettering. They look like a stereotypical Brink's truck.
I don't know if they have contracts by branch or if head office contracts them for all the branches..
What is bizzare, is ScotiaBank's corporate culture is based around family values, and the ethical treatment of people is of significance importance to them. That they would choose this courier to securely transfer cash is beyond baffling.
Often, these companies are used by Canadian banks to manage their ATM machines. The courier makes stops at the branches to refill the ATM machines with bills.
I don't bank with ScotiaBank. But, I worked there once, so I know about this culture. If their customers bring this up, they will listen and do something about it.
My guess is they will tell GardaWorld to cancel their Alligator Alcatraz.contract if they still want to do business with the bank.

I don't bank with ScotiaBank. But, I worked there once, so I know about this culture. If their customers bring this up, they will listen and do something about it.
My guess is they will tell GardaWorld to cancel their Alligator Alcatraz.contract if they still want to do business with the bank.

Playing effective Hard Ball with Trump is like playing Chess- thinking 4-7 moves ahead, and playing the game quietly until time for Check mate. And even then you don’t crow about winning; you quietly walk away from the table after shaking hands with the opponent, and then start preparing for the next game, which we all know is coming. We need to play the long game, taking every opportunity to strengthen our position, but never boasting about our gains. W

So happy to hear that Canadians are, by and large, sticking to their principles! Our efforts to resist the administration here in America seem lackluster at best. Never in my life have we faced such a threat. Never have we seen such corruption. With every day that passes, we are overwhelmed with the cruelty imposed on so many innocents. It feels as if we have already lost. And yet, those of us who did not vote for this felon know that to surrender to this fate is not in our bones. We fight for our democracy. We seek justice. We didn't come this far to give up now! We pray that our global partners, and especially our neighbors, will continue to support us in our efforts to stop this madman and his many sycophants. We are proud of our Canadian neighbors. We see you and thank you for your efforts to create your own resistance to the evils living here.
